19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an improved service.
He came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional championship, took control to create a decider.
Moutet saved four initial break points in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
